Dad took his responsibility to teach his family the gospel seriously.  We had family home evening. We had family scripture study.  When we were in the car, Dad would talk about the gospel.  His example was his best teaching.

Dad loved planning a trip with his family.  We saw the whole United States.

Young Calvin Clemens Cook

Calvin served his fellowmen

Calvin served in the Merchant Marines with Elliot Walker (Cal's best friend), and Bliss Cook (brother) at age 17.

He strengthened his testimony by studying the gospel on the ship.

Calvin served as the chaplain at the Clovis, New Mexico Air Force Base

Cal loved taking tours at Temple Square.  He served there for more than 20 years.

He is a great missionary.

Cal enjoyed his association with the Lions Club.  We enjoyed going to the conventions with Dad around the US. We loved collecting the Lions Club pins.
He served as president.

Calvin worked hard

Calvin was there

If Dad was there it meant fun!

Whether it be football games, swim meets, diving meets, baseball games.  He was always there.

Dad loved ice cream!

Calvin taught the plan of salvation and then lived it which strenghtened our testimonies of it

In 1979, Cal was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.  He drew close to the Savior with all night prayers.  He drew close to his family.  His faith, Mom's faith, the family's faith and the tender mercy of the Lord prolonged his life until August 1982.

Each Memorial Day the Cook family would gather at the family graves in Elysian Gardens.  Dad would talk about the resurrection, the plan of salvation and how beautiful it was there.
The Cook's still meet at the graves on Sunday of Memorial Weekend.

Dad has stayed near the family.  Many have felt his watchful care.
